Many years ago, a network of rails provided vital transportation around Ontario. Over time, railways
became less important, and some rail lines gradually were abandoned. Thanks to far-sighted individuals,
many of these rail beds were acquired for public use as recreational trails.
One such is the Elora-Cataract Trailway. In 2010, the Elora Cataract Trailway Organization is
conducting regular hikes, with a different theme each month. The dates of the free hikes are shown
in this calendar.
These hikes follow the route shown below.
